Ants are sources of new exportable products for indigenous communities

  • Ants are considered a delicacy in South East Asia and medicine in China; therefore, they can result to be a valuable exportable product for local communities.
  • In Southeast Asia ants are currently harvested and eaten, but their collection is not scientific and therefore jeopardizes colonies’ survival. Our method, instead, increases colonies’ development, thus boosting production.
  • Working as a natural pesticide, ants reduce crops’ production cost, raised by chemical pesticides’ purchase, therefore, increasing farmers’ marginal revenue.
